Service no. | Service scope | Service description | Reference fee | Turnaround |

EV metabolomics measures and analyzes metabolites in extracellular vesicles to investigate their metabolic state and potential roles in biological metabolism. It can inform research into metabolic regulation, disease development and treatment strategies. The service typically includes EV isolation, metabolite separation and purification, and metabolite analysis. Results can describe metabolite identities, abundance and pathways. Metabolomics encompasses both untargeted and targeted approaches.
1. Untargeted metabolomics
Untargeted EV metabolomics uses high-resolution Orbitrap mass spectrometry to characterize metabolites in EV samples. LC-MS data are generally analyzed for metabolite identity and abundance, with MS1 and MS2 information matched against an in-house library and commercial reference databases. The method can be applied to a broad range of metabolites and complex biological samples.

2. Targeted metabolomics
Targeted metabolomics measures a defined list of metabolites, often focusing on one or more pathways. It can be used to evaluate previously identified metabolites or candidate biomarkers across biological samples. Reference standards support identification and quantification. The source describes high-throughput targeted analysis across sample and substance types and its applications in discovery, clinical translation and industrial research; suitability and any further validation should be assessed for each use.

Lifeint provides EV research and application services from sample preparation, isolation and characterization to omics, functional studies, modification and scale-up. It jointly established a biomedical technology centre with Xiamen University School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, built process-development laboratories to GMP standards, and contributed to an EV expert consensus. Its service records cover more than 300 plant species.
