Method overview

Lipids are important components of cell membranes, lipid transport and vesicle storage, with diverse structures and physicochemical properties that support many cellular functions. Lipid metabolism is studied across plants, animals and microorganisms, including in relation to cardiovascular disease, obesity, cancer and diabetes. EV lipidomics analyzes lipid molecules in extracellular vesicles to study their biogenesis, secretion, transfer and mechanisms of action. EV lipids include membrane lipids, triglycerides and cholesterol, which participate in processes such as cell signaling and maintenance of membrane structure and function. The source reports a plasma proportion of approximately 70%; its basis and scope should be verified before use.
